Daniel Lavery

Dan is the founder of Devon Freewheelers and has worked his way through relentless barriers and obstacles since 2009 in delivering the charity that is before you today.

Driven by pride and passion, Dan is doggedly determined to relief the pain, distress and suffering of a patient where ever they may be, and will literally consider anything in achieving that goal.

“As much as I steer; it is the volunteers who deliver my dream.  Devon Freewheelers is not me, it’s a team effort, and we would not be able to achieve anything without the dedication and support of the volunteers.  More precious than gold, the volunteers in Devon Freewheelers are your true ‘Hidden Heros’; them and my wife, without Shelley I’m nothing.  Her support allows me to do what I do every day.

Matt Young

Matt%20Young.jpgMatt Young has been a Trustee for the Devon Freewheelers since April 2018 and is passionate about the work that the charity carries across Devon and beyond.

A former rider himself, he understands the community amongst bikers and the absolute commitment the riders and volunteers have towards the Freewheelers and everything that entails.

Matt has a background in broadcasting, having spent numerous years broadcasting to the people of Devon and currently runs a small digital marketing agency, specialising in Social Media.

"I'm absolutely blown away by the growth of the charity since its humble beginnings a decade ago. Dan leads the team with a 'can-do' attitude and is hugely well supported by the team around him. Hopefully, I can add to the mix and continue to drive the charity forward as it continues to innovate and lead the way with Blood Bike Groups, across the UK.

I have known Dan Lavery for many years, having grown up with his wife, so I have seen the Devon Freewheelers mature into the amazing charity it is today.  It is with great pleasure that I accepted the appointment as Trustee – and I will endeavour to help, support and promote the charity to the best of my ability
