Chief Constable Shaun Sawyer, of the Devon and Cornwall Police sends written commendation to the volunteers of Devon Freewheelers.  In his letter he states: "I am writing to you to express my personal and profound thanks as Chief Constable and on behalf of colleagues within Devon & Cornwall Police"

The Chief Constable of Devon & Cornwall Police has written to Devon Freewheelers to 'commend' their services to the public and in particular makes reference to the 'exceptional endeavours' during the months of February and March 2018.

In the personal letter dated July 16th 2018 he states that Gold Commander Chief Superintendent Glen Mayhew recalls that the police, 'blue light services' and other partner agencies such as Highways England, worked around the clock to safeguard the public; and identified Devon Freewheelers for our part in those very challenging times to serve the public.

Chief Executive for Devon Freewheelers, Daniel Lavery, says: "It's fantastic to receive letters like this, especially from the Chief Constable.  I'm very grateful that he's taken the time to write to us and I'd like to thank him for his very supporting words which will be past onto every volunteer.  It's a very personal letter and it is hugely satisfying to know he's aware of what we do and why we do it.

Chief Constable Shaun Sawyer finishes his letter stating he's 'proud and privilaged' to commend the actions of Devon Freewheelers during this extraordinary time and sends his gratitude and best wishes to the volunteers of Devon Freewheelers.
