Fiona aims to swim 26 miles in 26 hours for Devon Freewheelers!

Devon Freewheelers supporter Fiona Taylor is taking on a challenge to swim 26 miles in 26 hours, to raise money for Devon Freewheelers. Below Fiona explains why she is taking on the challenge.

I started open water swimming exactly 9 years ago with a one mile charity swim at Roadford Lake. It was so exciting that I came out of the water and promptly signed up for another swim. Since then I've swum various Devon organised swims, the Dart 10K, Bantham Swoosh and the Exmoor & Dartmoor Lake swims, leading to One Way Windermere (10 miles) in 2017 and a 27k (17 miles) race (taking a whopping 9 hours !) in Italy last summer. After coming out of the lake in Italy I thought 'that's it' but nooo.....always on the look out for a challenge I saw a 26 hour, 26 mile swim in Doncaster (not quite Italy) in June that stirred that pit of fear in my stomach and so I signed up.

26 miles in 26 hours. A mile takes me just under half an hour so the rest of the hour will be keeping warm which will be hard during the night hours. I start 8am Saturday and finish 10am Sunday. An endurance and mental challenge this year !
