A vampire night held at the Honiton Wine Bar raised a fang-tastic £300 for the Devon Freewheelers charity.
Halloween celebrations were on Tuesday, October 30, held at the Honiton Wine Bar, in the High Street, organised by owners Peter and Lisa Beigan, serving up ‘blood-thirsty’ cocktails and juicy steaks to customers, who joined in the fun wearing fancy dress.
A percentage of the profits from the night was donated to the Devon Blood Bikes charity.
Lisa Beigan, at Honiton Wine Bar, said: “It seemed very appropriate to support this charity, mainly because it is a very worthy local charity who work extremely hard to provide essential services for our community.
“The evening was a great success and we raised £300 for Devon Freewheelers by holding a raffle and donating ten per cent of the cocktail and steak profits.”
She added: “We were treated to visit from the Devon Freewheelers and their brilliant bikes. Their kindness and love for their jobs was admirable.
“Lots of dressing up, eating and drinking led to a fantastic Halloween celebration.”
Russell Roe, Devon Freewheelers Deputy CEO, said the funds raised on the night will fuel a blood bike for 420 miles – the equivalent journey travelling from Honiton to South Lanarkshire, in Scotland.
Mr Roe said: “We are so grateful for the Honiton Wine Bar’s support and generous donation to help keep the Devon Blood Bikes on the road, supporting the NHS for free.
“The volunteers enjoyed taking along some of the charity’s blood bikes so the customers, wearing their spook-tacular costumes, could have their photos taken with the vehicles.”
