The charity is looking for volunteers to assist with all areas of fundraising. This could include helping at charity or community events, collecting or distributing the Devon Freewheelers collection pots or giving talks about the charity's work.

The charity is welcomes volunteers to ride  the ‘Blood Bikes’. To ride one of the charity's marked bikes, you are required to have an Advanced Rider Certificate from either RoSPA or IAM and to be over the age of 30. Once you have joined the charity as a rider, you will be given a check ride, and then undertake some shadow shift rides before going on to the rota. If you do not have your advanced certificate, you will more than welcome to join the charity as a fundraiser while you obtain it.

The charity is always keen to recruit volunteer drivers to undertake other operational duties within the charity. Drivers for the charity must be over 25 years old, preferably with a full clean licence and must have a minimum of two years' driving experience.

We get lots of requests for speakers to attend a function and showcase our charity to their club, group or organisation. This could be a coffee morning with 12 people or the local Lions Club meeting with 50 people - it's about having the confidence to stand up and speak to a crowd about our work. Speaking to groups can bring in a significant amount of funds to the charity and our calendar is full at least a year in advance; we are always in need of speaker support.

Volunteers based in Dorchester and the surrounding areas, provide a whole blood delivery service to the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance every 48 hours, based on a 24-hour duty rota. The role also includes being on call for replenishment runs if the blood is used between scheduled deliveries. The job is completed in a marked vehicle.
